The Trust is a charity which was set up shortly after the death of William Gladstone, the Prime Minister, by members of the Liberal Party. The Trust funds prizes for essays in subjects that Gladstone was interested in (primarily history, politics, economics and the Classics), and also provides awards to allow young people to travel.
